STUART, FL – Frank Edward Dlouhy, 92 died on July 24, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic in Stuart, Florida. Mr. Dlouhy died from natural causes. He was surrounded by his grandchildren. Survivors include: son Frank Dlouhy, Jr. of Stuart, Florida; Rive grandchildren, Paula Lyons, David Dlouhy, Zachary Burns, Victoria (Salas) Salcedo, and Amy Salas; four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and the many friends he knew during his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Helen Dlouhy and his siblings, Leonard, Leo, Donald, Eugene, and Lillian and by his spouse, Burdette (2015) and daughter, Mary Helen (Dlouhy) Salas (1988).

Frank was born at the family farmhouse near Monroe, Iowa on August 28, 1928. Born and raised during the Great Depression, Frank graduated the eighth grade from a one room schoolhouse and went to work on the family farm at the age of thirteen. He loved Rixing cars as a teenager. Frank served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Frank was united in marriage to Burdette Jon Fee on March 21, 1955 at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Working as a mechanic, Frank started his own car repair business in 1960. The combination of his extraordinary work ethic and easy going personality was the hallmark of his neighborhood business. He could make anything run...and still repaired his grandchildren’s cars well into his eighties. He ‘retired’ at 65 but kept working full time on cars and became an avid golfer.

In 2010, after 40 years apart, he reunited with his only true love, Burdette. In 2012, they both moved to Stuart, Florida to live with Frank Jr. He served as Burdette’s nurse until her passing on Jan 1, 2015. Frank spent his remaining years living with his son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In 2015, he helped Frank Jr build The ‘Twin Palms’ backyard golf course and that became the ‘rest of the story’. He will always be remembered as a loving father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, golfer, and dear friend.

All County Funeral Home has arranged for cremation services. A ceremony spreading his ashes into the ocean and reuniting Frank and Burdette just outside the St. lucie Inlet will be recorded on video.
